Committed to Financial Integrity: Celebrating 22 Years of Gernas APU PPT

For the past 22 years, Nobu Bank has been an integral part of the National Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Movement, or locally known as Gernas APU PPT. We are proud to be working closely with key players in the banking industry in a joint effort to fight financial crime, including the prevention and eradication of Money Laundering (TPPU), Financing of Terrorism (TPPT), and Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (PPSPM).

Targeted activities of Gernas APU PPT

TPPU, TPPT, and PPSPM are not mere acronyms to us. Each of these terms is a real challenge that we must face together.

Money Laundering Crime (Tindak Pidana Pencucian Uang)

Money laundering involves concealing or legitimizing the origin of proceeds that are actually a result of crime.

This is when someone uses a fake business to disguise the source of illegal funds, such as profits from drug trafficking or corruption. For example, an offender launders drug proceeds by claiming that said money is income from a fictional business that does not exist.

Terrorism Financing Crime (Tindak Pidana Pendanaan Terorisme)

On the other hand, TPPT is a crime that threatens national security by facilitating funding for acts of terrorism.

TPPT is when a person or a group of people use illegal funds to support terrorist activities. For example, a person transfers money to a terrorist account to finance the purchase of weapons or fund operatives.

Financing the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (Pendanaan Proliferasi Senjata Pemusnah Massal)

This type of financing is any financial activity or transaction that supports or facilitates the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, such as nuclear, chemical, or biological, to unauthorized or immoral entities or individuals.

Such funding can jeopardize global security and violate international law.
